KAILUA-KONA, Hawaii (AP) _ It takes only minutes every morning to brew up a java jolt, but the coffee-growing region of Kona takes 10 days to properly honor the bean.

I complained to Wawa in January 2008 about their deceptive use of the name, “Kona,” on their Kona blend coffee. Wawa is a large convenience store chain in the Northeast United States. Here is the article I posted: Adulteration of Kona coffee by Wawa

I just visited a Wawa store and noticed the new label. Wawa is now being more truthful and using “Kona Blend.”

Half-ton of premium coffee beans stolen in Hawaii

KAILUA-KONA, Hawaii - Police in Hawaii say a thief got his caffeine fix when he made off with more than 1,000 pounds of Kona coffee beans.

Police say the beans were taken from a home sometime between May 27 and May 29. The beans were in 100-pound burlap bags.

Police are asking the public to report anyone trying to sell green coffee beans.
