Starbucks faces another NLRB complaint

NEW YORK (AP) — Starbucks Corp. is facing another complaint from the National Labor Relations Board alleging that the gourmet coffee chain engaged in unfair labor practices by firing a barista in Michigan.

The complaint, filed last month by the Detroit office of the NLRB, stems from an investigation into a charge made by employee Cole Dorsey earlier this year.

Starbucks Offers Free Coffee for Homeschool Parents

This coming Monday, September 29, homeschool parents will be able to pick up a complimentary tall size (12 fl. oz.) cup of Pike Place Roast from Starbucks.

This promotion is part of Starbucks “Great Start for Great Teachers” promotion, and is now open to all teachers.

HSLDA intervened when we were alerted that homeschool parents were not included in the promotion.

Starbucks (SBUX), reeling from the need to close 600 of its stores, plans to serve up news alongside shots of double espresso. Perhaps the rag, entitled The Good Sheet, will spark discussion and maybe even gooey communitarian feeling among its customers.

Starbucks, Kraft to sell coffee in Swiss stores

Starbucks Corp. and Kraft Foods said Thursday that they would sell packaged coffee in Swiss retail stores for the first time by the end of this month.

The coffee will be sold at Switzerland’s Coop, which bills itself as the second-largest retailer in the country and sells groceries as well as other consumer goods and services.
