“Across the country and around the world (in the northern hemisphere, that is) grapevines slumber through the cold. In the coming months the waving canes, like those shown here, will be pruned back to let the plants devote all their energies to the new growth of the 2008 vintage.” — Alder Yarrow

The White Tape

“Sometimes I wonder if I would enjoy taking pictures in Vineyards so much if there weren’t any fog. The mystery it imparts to the vineyard landscape of stark vines and trees is fascinating to me. I was findimg my way through this vineyard in Sonoma when I saw something shining bright in the grey dampness — some white tape wrapped around a post.” — Michael Regnier

Vinography Images: Moving Through The Vineyard

Thursday, December 13th, 2007

vinography_desktop_moving_though_vineyard.jpg

Moving Through The Vineyard

“This image was made at Hawkeye Mountain Vineyard in Sonoma. This shot was an attempt to capture a bit of my experience as the photographer that day. As I work in the vineyards I move really quickly through the landscape, trying out different vantage points along the mountain, and trying to keep up with the fast-moving fog. This image captures a bit of that rush to discover shots in every direction.” — Michael Regnier
